Who We Are
I realized I had a "knack" for decor and design at an early age. When I was just 10, my family moved to a new house where I had a gigantic new bedroom all to myself! I proceeded to tear up the carpet to reveal hardwood floors, wallpapered the walls (hey, this was the 80s!) and then painted the ceiling. And of course, all of the colors had to "tie together". The bed was removed from the frame and placed on the floor so the bedding "puddled" nicely.
Through the years, I've always been the first person friends and family reach out to for design advice or inspiration. My parents' second home was my "blank slate"; taking a simple Cape Cod to a new level. No more cast iron tub and gold fixtures, oh no! The bathroom was completely gutted, using my design plans. The carpeting was also pulled up, exposing beautiful hardwood floors. What a find!
This love of interior design continues to inspire through the purchase of two homes, which I have almost completely redesigned and renovated. I am still trying to make time to repaint all of the bedrooms and bathrooms in the newest home though...
Oddly enough though, my initial career path did not involve interior design as one would expect. Instead, that "eye" for color resulted in a career as an automotive paint and plastics Quality Engineer, until I left to join my husband Thomas in the wedding business in 2013. And it was here that I've found my true passion.
How does one translate working in automotive to working in the wedding business? As I've always put it, it's all about "attention to detail". It all starts with a conversation. A conversation where we talk to you about the vision of how you want your wedding space to look, but even more importantly, how you want your guests to feel when they enter the space for the first time. Do you want your guests to feel like they are walking into an English garden? Or perhaps a whimsical space filled with bright colors? Or maybe have older guests "ooh" and "ahh" over vintage touches and antiques?
My pledge: Heart Wedding Decor will strive to create the look and feel you desire most, while working closely with your florist and any other artists chosen for The Big Day. If you can dream it, Heart can do it.
